I have made friends with one of the lap swimmers. I still wear a GVSU swim cap, so he likes to ask me about my "glory days." Today he asked me how fast I swam the mile in college, and I was shocked but I could not even remember the exact time. I think it was 19:21 something but I am really not sure. That was crazy to me because I used to have it all in my head.. I knew all my best splits, the splits I needed to hold, and all of my best times. Heck, I knew all of my friends and the distance swimmers on the team's best times too! Funny how something that was so important back then- I can't even remember now.
Today I swam really well. My times were actially a little faster than they have been. I also made up a really good set- so good that I wanted to stop doing it halfway through. But I pressed on... during the good old days I couldn't stop doing a set because it turned out to be a little hard or tiring.. so I stuck to that mindset today. I dreaded the 200s today but, tt actually turned out really well in the end.
Total: 2500 yards
500 yd warm up
4 x 50 on the 1:00
100 on the 2:00
200 on the 4:00
100 on the 2:00
50 on the 1:00
:30 seconds in between each set mini ladder set, each set- first stroke of each distance was IM order and fast
I was holding 1:30 on the freestyle 100 yd distances and 1:35 with the butterfly and backstroke ones! I was happy with that outcome.
100 on the 2:00
