Well, unfortunately, just as I was starting to make progress- getting an itty bitty bit faster and adding in more yards... I will be going on a 2 week hiatus. So, pretty much- everything that I did in the last 2 weeks will be undone, and I will have to start over in the end of May. I do have a good reason though, I am off to Pensacola, FL to help clean up the oil spill. The whole thing makes me so sad, and I have a chance to directly help- so I am taking it. I am taking my suit and goggles though- maybe I can do laps every once in awhile in one of their city pools. I hope to be working hard though every day, and hopefully I will get to save a few animals along the way.

Hi! I'm Stacey... I have started swimming again. I swam competitively for 10 years- YMCA, high school, and then for 4 years in college at Grand Valley State University. I really have not been in the pool all that much since my last college season ended (tear) in Feb 2004. I love swimming. I always have, and I always will. I feel a special "oneness" with the water. It is both a stress release and a challenge. In its basic form, swimming is pure joy for me. However, over the years, unachievable goals, disappointments, and health problems would sometimes get in the way. Despite my love of the water- the way you can sometimes feel every little water droplet when you push off of the wall (the best feeling in the world)!, I have had a hard time getting back into the pool and sticking with it. I know that in recent years, my life has been missing something. I am pretty sure that something is the smell of chlorine! So, I am going to try again, and I am using this blog as a form of accountability! My goal will be to participate in an open water race this year.
